The five songs are mostly acoustic with a blend of mandolin and fiddle on ‘Country Mountain’, brass on ‘Just Like The Beatles’ and reverse electric guitar on ‘Black Irish Dogs’. All tracks feature Boz Boorer (better known for his work with MORRISSEY and The Polecats) on guitar and bass.
‘The Highway’, ‘Just Like The Beatles’, ‘Country Mountain’, and ‘Black Irish Dogs’ feature the drumming of David Ruffy (better known for his work with The RUTS, Edwyn Collins, Kirsty MacColl, Sinead O’ Connor and The Waterboys).

Album notes

On arriving in Portugal, I picked up an Alvarez acoustic guitar and sang ‘Black Irish Dogs’ and ‘Country Mountain’. Days later, an old acoustic song ‘No One Ever Told Me’ took shape when a haunting cello sound was added. ‘The Highway’ took on a sound reminiscent of U2 Joshua Tree era as Dave Ruffy played the drums. Before completing the session, we invited local musician Stuart Wilcock to play fiddle on ‘Country Mountain’ and ‘Black Irish Dogs’ which transformed both songs.

Recorded in Serra Vista Studio from June, August and October 2017.
Produced by Boz Boorer.
