The five songs are acoustic based with a blend of mandolin and fiddle on ‘Country Mountain’, brass on ‘Just Like The Beatles’ and reverse electric guitar on ‘Black Irish Dogs’. All tracks feature Boz Boorer on guitar and bass. ‘The Highway’, ‘Just Like The Beatles’, ‘Country Mountain’, and ‘Black Irish Dogs’ feature the phenomenal drumming skills of David Ruffy.
On arriving in Portugal, Bead® picked up an Alvarez acoustic guitar and sang ‘Black Irish Dogs’ and ‘Country Mountain’. Days later, an old song ‘No One Ever Told Me’ took shape when a haunting cello sound was added. ‘The Highway’ took on a sound reminiscent of U2 as David Ruffy played the drums. Before completing the session, Bead® invited Stuart Wilcock to play fiddle on ‘Country Mountain’ and ‘Black Irish Dogs’ which transformed both songs.
Recorded in Serra Vista Studio from June, August and October 2017.
Produced by Boz Boorer.
